One of the biggest problems that people have with their self improvement efforts is simply that they forget to practice whatever techniques they are supposed to be practicing in order to improve their lives.

The truth of the matter is that you are so used to living your life in a certain way that you often forget to take the appropriate measures to effect long-term positive changes.

Back before the days of computer-generated task lists and automated telephone reminders, people used to tie a piece of yarn around their finger in order to remember that they were supposed to do something. It was a crude, but effective technique.

These days, our daily list of activities is so huge that in order to utilize the yarn technique, we would all run around looking like a blanket or a scarf that was in the process of being created!

An easier to use (and more fashionable) technique is to simply associate things that are in your life with whatever it is that you are supposed to remember to do. Then, every time you come across your associated experience, you will remember to take part in a certain self improvement technique.

For example, let’s say that you are wanting to improve your financial status in life. There are plenty of tasks that can be part of such a goal, but it has now been proven conclusively that the primary reason why people do not obtain financial success is because they do not have the proper mindset.

Reprogramming your subconscious to see wealth as positive and attainable is a far more effective strategy than simply working more hours, or trying to find “the next big thing” that people will pay good money for.

Another example could be weight loss. The very simple method of losing weight and increasing health has been known since long before the days of ultra-high tech diet and fitness programs. That answer is, of course, to eat healthy and to get plenty of exercise.

Again, it is the self-limiting belief about someone’s ability to follow through with that simple formula that stands in their way. That fact is easily remedied by convincing your subconscious mind that you are both worthy of incredible health, and that it is possible for you to attain it.

One more example – relationships. There are no “good and bad” people when it comes to relationships. Every single person on earth has thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of compatible partners out there, and they just haven’t run into each other yet.

However, the lonely or relationship-challenged individual will tend to think that there is something wrong with them, or that they are not “good enough” to have an incredible relationship, so they keep subconsciously reinforcing that same self-limiting belief over and over again in their mind.

In each of the cases listed above, as well as any other circumstance you can think of that needs improvement, the baseline solution is the same: Reprogram your thinking, and you will reprogram your reality.

Two simple and free ways to reprogram your thinking are through the use of what are popularly called “affirmations” or “visualizations.” In reality, however, both of those tools are simply glorified reminders about what you are supposed to be thinking. The trick to using them is to simply remember to do so!

In order to trip that memory switch, simply assign an affirmation or a visualization reminder to a common occurrence in your life, which, when it occurs, will remind you to reprogram your thinking.

In the case of wealth, you could find a certain shape that you equate with money – a circle for instance. Then, each time you see a circular shape, such as a coin, a coaster, the rim of a cup or a glass, you stop what you are doing and say your affirmation, or take 30 seconds and perform whatever visualization you have set up in advance.

For health, you can do the same thing, only this time, choose another common occurrence, such as a color. If you choose green as your “health” color, then every time you see the color green, you reaffirm to yourself that you are thin, healthy, and attractive, or you picture yourself looking sexy or vigorous in a visualization.

With regard to relationships, maybe you could choose a sound, such as the email sound on your computer, your dog barking, or the sound of a car engine. Each time you hear that sound, say your relationship affirming mantra in your head, or visualize yourself with your dream mate.

Each of these examples are meant to just give you an idea of how this whole process works, and you are encouraged to come up with your own reminder system. The key to the process is consistency, however. Your reminders need to be things that you experience several times every single day.

After repeatedly affirming and visualizing your desires over and over again many times each day, eventually you will reprogram yourself for whatever success it is that you are after, and the whole thing won’t have cost you any money, or even any significant amount of your time.

It doesn’t get any easier or more effective than that!

training a dogDog Training Secrets : http://www.dogtrainingtips4you.com/

Here are what we regard to be the key concepts to successful dog training, and a short description of each:
★Bonding
Perhaps the most important aspect of building a successful relationship with your dog will be your rapport with him. If you make your dog into a close friend by doing such things as talking to him, playing with him, and taking him for long walks, your dog will be much more responsive and attentive when you are training him.
★Consistency
Delivering consistent messages to your dog will help him to view his world as black and white rather than various shades of grey. By consistent messages, I mean the commands that you decide to use to train, praise, and reprimand your dog should always be the same. It is important that all members of the family are aware of this and use the same commands themselves.
★Repetition
Dogs are creatures of habit and learn by repetition. It will take several repetitive training sessions for your dog to get the response you require implanted into his brain and for the action to become automatic.
★Session Length
Keep formal sessions short and enjoyable so that your dog maintains concentration throughout. Quality not quantity is the golden rule. Always finish a training session on a positive note.
★Praise
Use praise whenever your dog has completed an exercise correctly. Praise should also be delivered to your dog as soon as the desired act has been done (remember the timing thing). When delivering praise look directly into the dog’s eyes so that he understands the connection between your voice or touch and his action.

There are plenty of reasons why dog training at home should be taken with care and determination. Proper training results in pets doing what is expected of them in terms of socialization, good defecating habits, reduced anxiety, obedience, and a generally good behavior.

Providing the proper dog training at home could be very rewarding experience if you put your heart into it. A responsible and loving pet owner should be more than glad to help his new dog adjust to the surroundings.

A disciplined dog is loved by many compared to their rowdy counterparts. He will also return the favor back to you by being well-behaved and following your commands and instructions. Apart from this, he will surely make you proud if you did well in training him.

Training you dog should start while he is still young although older dogs could also be trained. Moreover, you should be prepared to spend time and energy when dog training at home because it is a long process.

Dog owner anywhere must be consistent and patient in training his dog. The key is setting limits and restrictions by being firm and by offering rewards for a job well done. Below is 5 Steps To Dog Training At Home.

A. Have fun. More than anything, dog training at home should be a fun experience. Dogs love to play and they should not be denied that privilege. Be firm yet gentle. Start with simple commands and use them repetitively and consistently.

Believe it or not, you also need to establish mutual faith and trust in place of harsh punishment. If you succeed in creating a training environment filled with respect, your dog will be more than willing to be trained.

B. Be flexible. This is not the military so do not hesitate to make minor adjustments if, for instance, your dog still does not get a certain lesson you are trying to teach. Consider your pet’s maturity and age. There is no need to hurry. Like human beings, dogs are unique and also harbor different rates of progress.

C. Training your dog yourself helps develop a strong bond between you and your pet. A well-trained dog is a dog you could be proud of around your friends and your neighbors.

D. Be fair. As mentioned earlier, give rewards and merits when it is due. Do not set very high standards. Recognize every achievement no matter how small it is.

E. Positive reinforcement is the highly recommended method of dog training. This entails providing praise and physical rewards each time your pet follows your commands. Training sessions need not be long and tedious.

Set realistic goals. You cannot expect your pet to do it right the first time around. You take it one step at a time whether you are training him to use the litter box or getting him to follow the “Sit” command.
The key is consistency and patience. Do not punish your dog if he makes a mistake.

These five Steps to dog training at home also provides your pet with needed exercise and mental stimulation. You could also have peace of mind if you have a well-trained dog around the house.

It can be very difficult to determine if a child under the age of 19 months has a problem with their hearing because very young children and babies will respond to their environment by touch more than sound. Listed below are a number of questions of signs that you should watch out for in your child and ask yourself if they apply to your child. If you answer no to any of them then it might be wise to visit your doctor or mention to your health visitor that you think there may be a problem with your child’s hearing.

From birth to 4 months of age

At this stage your baby should:

* Be startled when they hear a sudden loud noise such as a shout, hand clap or dog barking nearby?

* When asleep does your baby wake up at the sound of loud noises?

* If your baby is crying does he/she stop crying if they hear your voice while you’re still out of site, or quieten down if you play music?

* By the time your baby is around 4 months old he/she should be turning their head towards sounds they hear.

4 to 8 months of age

At this stage your baby should:

* Does your babies eyes widen at the sound of a voice or loud noise?

* Does your baby notice sounds that are outside of the peripheral vision?

* Does your baby enjoy a sound mobile, rattle or any other toy which makes noises?

* Around the age of 6 months your baby should be gurgling or babbling back to people who speak to them.

* Around the age of 6 months your baby should be making different sounds when babbling.

8 to 12 months of age

At this stage your baby should:

* Your baby should be responding to soft noises and turning their head towards them.

* Your baby should be able to respond to their own name.

* Their voice should alter in pitch when babbling.

* Your baby should be adding constants to their babbling, such as m, b, p and g.

* Your baby should respond to music by bouncing and jigging up and down.

* Your baby should understand the word no.

Of course every child develops at a different pace and the above is only a very rough guide, your child may respond earlier or a little later to any of the above but it is usually around the ages stated above. If you suspect that your child may have problems with their hearing then consult your doctor or health care visitor.

Hearing loss overview

Deafness & hearing loss guide

There are four main types of hearing loss; conductive hearing loss, sensorineural hearing loss, central hearing loss and mixed hearing loss. Hearing loss and deafness can affect anyone at any age with some people being born deaf while for others hearing loss is a gradual or sudden occurrence depending on the circumstances which brought about the deafness or hearing loss. Deafness or hearing loss can also occur for many different reasons ranging from ear infections to trauma of the ear drum.

Conductive hearing loss

Conductive hearing loss is usually associated with obstructions to the outer or middle ear and can also be caused by certain diseases, this type of hearing loss will affect all frequencies and the loss usually isn’t severe. The person suffering from conductive hearing loss will usually be able to be helped surgically or has great success when using a hearing aid.

Sensorineural hearing loss

This type of hearing loss is usually brought about by damage to the sensory hair cells or nerves of the inner ear, hearing loss due to this will normally be more profound than conductive hearing loss and it usually affects only certain frequencies. Even when wearing a hearing aid the person affected by sensorineural hearing loss may still have great difficulty in hearing certain sounds.

Central hearing loss

This type of hearing loss is usually done by damaging the nerves of the central nervous system; this can be either in the brain itself or the pathways leading to the brain.

Mixed hearing loss

This type of hearing loss is a combination of conductive hearing loss and sensorineural hearing loss, this means that the person can suffer from problems relating to both the middle and outer ear as well as the inner ear.

What can be done to help those hard of hearing?

There are many things that can be done to help the hard of hearing, people who have been hard of hearing or deaf for a number of years will usually have learnt to lip read or even sign. They may also wear a hearing aid to help them hear more clearly and there are several steps a person can take to make life easier for them.

* Always make sure the person knows when you are going to speak by facing them.

* Make sure you talk in good lighting conditions.

* Try to have your conversation away from distractions, such as heavy traffic or loud background noise.

* Don’t mumble or use a lot of slang words.

* Speak in a clear voice but don’t shout at the person.

* Remember that just because the person cant hear it doesn’t affect their intellectual capacity.

For hearing-impaired children, the mode of communication used in the classroom varies according to the children’s ages and needs. Although a mainly oral approach is used, and effective listening skills encouraged, lipreading and gestural support are provided. We are doing all efforts with the disabled to join them to the mainstream without any help from any sector of the society. And we are looking for a positive support.

Whether you are aware of this or given it any thought or not, but your sleep environment can have a profound effect on the quality of your sleep.

Let’s take a look at some helpful tips that will help you get the most out of your sleeping time.

The Room Temperature -

Not only can the temperature of your room affect your ability to get a good night’s sleep but so can the humidity of the room as well. Ideally, your room should feel slightly cool when you first enter it. This will ultimately match more closely to that of your body when you are in the deep midst of your sleep.

This is not too difficult of a task if you are the only sleeper in the room. Needless to say adjusting the temperature is a different matter when another opinion in the ideal temperature is involved. If this is case, some testing and compromising will usually bring an equitable solution to all parties. In fact, sometimes just using a small fan on the side of the bed that likes a cooler temperature can work very well.

Noise Level -

Needless to say that a quiet environment is much more conducive to restful sleep than that of one that is not. It doesn’t matter what the source of the noise, any inconsistent or irregular noise can lead to inconsistency in your sleeping patterns.

There are adjustments that you can make to reduce the amount of noise in your sleeping environment. Many times a fan in the room makes for a great noise reducer. A fan (or anything that will produce a constant monotone noise) will many times offer enough insulation from erratic noise such as a dog barking or traffic that you’ll be able to get a good night’s rest.

Other techniques you can use would be to put heavier curtains on your windows, replace your windows with double or triple paned glass, or invest in some ear plugs.

Your Bedside Clock -

Don’t be a clock watcher and keep worrying about the fact that if you don’t fall asleep soon you’re going to be soooo tired. Set your alarm and then turn the clock away from you so you can’t crack an eye open and see the time… trust your body and your alarm to wake you at the proper time.

Sleep In A Good Bed -

The size of your bed and the type of mattress you are trying to sleep on does make a difference. Take the time to pick out a bed and a mattress that fits you and feels comfortable. A high quality mattress will certainly require a larger investment on your behalf, but in the long run, your sleep and your health is by far worth the up front investment… and don’t stop with your mattress either make sure you pick some new soft and comfortable pillows that you like as well… trust me… the sleep difference can be dramatic.

Train Your Body -

Sleep and sleep only in your bed. Don’t use your bed for paying the bills, or even constantly watching the television. Teach and train your body the bed is for sleeping not conducting other life’s tasks.

Lighting -

The darker the better for the body to sleep peacefully. If you work nights and have to get your sleep during the day take measures to darken your bedroom as much as you possibly can by using heavier window coverings.

Your sleep and subsequently you health is a very important matter. If you are having trouble sleeping at night; don’t just keep doing the same thing your doing with your sleep habits and your sleep environment. Make some of the aforementioned adjustments and tweaks and perfect your sleeping environment… you’ll be glad you did.
